MRC compression model

• Here we assume:

  • 3 level decomposition
  • CCITT for Mask; JPEG for other two planes
  • Default compression parameters
  • No plane sub-sampling, no special processing
  • Files are collected together using tar and gzip
  • Unused (“masked out”) portions of a plane are “filled” using special block-filling algorithm on a block-by block basis.

• Thus, 264 possible plane decompositions per block
